Current Status: December 2025
Prototype hardware complete • Real-time Rust control loop at 1 kHz on bare-metal RP2040
Key metrics: ~0.17 mJ/cycle • All crashes prevented at compile time (Rust) • Zero ROS/Python/GC overhead
In active development since October 2025
Next Phase: New x86 + RP2040 Platform (Dec 2025 – Jan 2026)
A brand-new compact x86 board with integrated RP2040 co-processor was released this month. It is the ideal target because:
- On-board RP2040 → reuse existing real-time Rust firmware with almost zero changes
- Intel N150 + 8 GB LPDDR5 → heavy perception and curiosity-driven learning
- 6–15 W configurable TDP → fanless outdoor or high-performance modes
- Drop-in mechanical compatibility with existing enclosures
If I receive a review unit, I will immediately port the full stack and publish detailed benchmarks and videos.
Planned Content (if I receive a review unit)
- Full Rust real-time stack port to the new board's RP2040
- Comprehensive performance and power-efficiency benchmarks
- Fanless
6 Woutdoor deployment test - 2–4 in-depth YouTube videos + technical articles + complete open-source repo
